How this review was made

For pricing and features this review draws on StreamYard’s own pricing and feature information, its Plan Usage Policy, published guidance, and public review-site feedback.

What StreamYard is

StreamYard is a browser-based studio for live streaming and recording video. A host opens a broadcast in the browser, invites guests through a link, and sends the show to platforms such as YouTube or Facebook, or records it without going live. There is no OBS-style setup, which is the main reason it appeals to people who want to focus on the conversation rather than the technology. The service is aimed at individual creators, podcasters, coaches and marketers, while separate Business and Enterprise plans cover organizations.

How the main workflows work

A show starts in the studio, where guests wait in a Greenroom until the host brings them on screen. From there the host switches layouts, shows banners, adds logos and overlays, and shares screens. Branding tools grow with the plan: Core adds logos, overlays, video clips, backgrounds, intro and outro video, a chat overlay and more than 16 custom layouts.

Multistreaming scales by tier, with two destinations on Essential, three on Core and eight on Advanced. Core also adds custom RTMP destinations. Recording follows a similar pattern. Core records live streams to the cloud automatically and allows unlimited local recordings, and Advanced raises local recordings to 4K. Pre-recorded streams run up to two hours on Core and four hours on Advanced. AI clips turn recordings into short clips on Core and above. Advanced adds On-Air webinars for up to 100 viewers, 15 backstage participants, an extra camera, custom fonts and transcript downloads.

The free plan

The free plan includes the core studio features, but it keeps the StreamYard logo on your streams and sends to a single destination. Local recordings are limited to 2 hours a month, the studio shows up to 6 people on screen, and the account has one seat. The pricing page lists streaming limits without giving figures, and Full HD output starts at Essential. Automatic recording of live streams is listed from Core upward, so free accounts rely on the monthly local recording allowance. The free plan works well for testing the guest workflow before paying.

Pricing and what to check

The individual lineup has Free, Essential, Core and Advanced, and annual billing is priced about 22% below monthly billing. Prices can vary with promotions, renewal terms and custom offers, so check the live pricing page before buying. Each paid tier adds the following:

  • Essential: unlimited streaming, two destinations and Full HD, with the StreamYard logo still shown.
  • Core: logo removal, three destinations, ten on-screen participants, cloud recording, unlimited local recordings, 50 hours of storage and AI clips.
  • Advanced: 4K local recordings, eight destinations, 15 backstage participants, four-hour pre-recorded streams, On-Air webinars for 100 viewers, custom fonts and transcript downloads.

Essential, Core and Advanced are for individual use, which the vendor’s usage policy extends to freelancers and their collaborators. Business and Enterprise plans are described separately and go through the sales team.

What users report

Review platforms rate StreamYard highly overall. Reviewers repeatedly praise its ease of use, intuitive interface and quick setup for weekly shows, and they say the output looks professional without much technical effort. The recurring complaints concern cost: some reviewers describe price increases after plan changes and feel paid plans cost more than alternatives. Others find the free plan restrictive, say useful features sit on higher tiers, or mention limited editing and customization options. A smaller number report occasional technical glitches, slow help during live sessions, or problems that appeared after upgrading.

Who StreamYard suits

StreamYard suits hosts who run recurring interview shows, podcasters adding video, coaches and educators running branded sessions, and solo marketers producing small webinars. It also suits freelancers who stream client events under their own individual plan. The common thread is a person who wants a polished result quickly and values a simple studio over fine-grained control.

Who should look elsewhere

Teams that want several people sharing one account should look at the Business lineup or a different tool, because the individual plans and the free plan are built around one person. Producers who need many video sources, detailed scene switching or complex gaming setups will find a desktop encoder more flexible. Anyone planning webinars for more than 100 live viewers on a self-serve plan, or whose main need is internal meetings rather than broadcasts, should compare other platforms.

Before you choose

  • Decide whether the StreamYard logo matters, since Free and Essential keep it and Core removes it.
  • Count the destinations you need, because the plans allow two, three or eight.
  • Estimate how many hours of recordings you want to keep, since Core includes 50 hours of permanent storage.
  • Confirm your use fits an individual plan, or whether you need Business.
  • Check the live pricing page for current prices and note that payment is accepted in USD or Indian rupees only.

Core$35.99 per month, billed annuallyAlso $44.99 per month billed monthly; no logo, 3 destinations, 10 on-screen participants, cloud recording, unlimited local recordings, 50 hours of storage, AI clips
Advanced$68.99 per month, billed annuallyAlso $88.99 per month billed monthly; adds 4K local recordings, 8 destinations, 15 backstage participants, On-Air webinars for 100 viewers

Free allows 2 hours of local recording a month and 6 on-screen participants, and the pricing page does not give numbers for its streaming limits. Core allows 10 on-screen participants, 2-hour pre-recorded streams and 50 hours of permanent storage, while Advanced allows 15 backstage participants, 4-hour pre-recorded streams and On-Air webinars for 100 viewers. Essential, Core and Advanced are for individual use only, and companies and larger teams are directed to separate Business plans, with large organizations directed to Enterprise (StreamYard pricing page and Plan Usage Policy, checked 5 Nov 2026). Paid individual plans have a 7-day free trial and a 7-day money-back guarantee that covers only the first charge. Plans can be cancelled at any time and paid features stay until the end of the billing period, and upgrading mid-cycle charges only the difference. Payment is accepted in USD or Indian rupees only, and prices may vary with promotions, renewal terms and custom offers. Business and Enterprise use a separate plan lineup whose pricing was not shown in the individual view.
